Very Pleased with this...
Very Pleased with this purchase. Functions and shoots well. I had an issue with the front sight hood falling off but after contacting Marlin they were very responsive and sent a replacement hood promptly. Buds was great as expected.

I'm disappointed. I...
I'm disappointed. I put 100 rounds through it when I first bought it during the pandemic but haven't taken it back to the range until this week. Now, the lever locks open every 50 rounds or so. Neither I nor the range master could unjam the rifle by pushing the stuck round back into the tube. With only 200 rounds through it, I'm sending it to a gunsmith. If he can fix it, it will be a great rifle. If not, it's mostly useless.

Questions & Answers
Q: Hello, What's the difference between the Marlin 1894 44 Mag and the Cowboy Limited Model? I think the Cowboy Limited Model has an octagonal barrel than a round one in 1894 44 Mag. Are there any other differences? Thank you.
Author: Alexander Y.
(1) ANSWER
A: The cowboy rifle has and octagon barrel, period correct sights, no checkering and is chambered for 44 magnum. The standard 1894 will shoot 44mag and 44 spl, has a round barrel, checkering and folding rear sight.

Q: Could you tell me which year this was produced?
Author: Steven C.
(2) ANSWERS
A: Hi Steven, unfortunately we would need an actual Serial Number to be able to specify date of manufacture Steven. I don't think Buds would give that out without purchase.

A: This particular rifle has some stock fit-up gaps between the butt-stock and the receiver. I loosened the screw a little, then bounced the butt on the floor, then tightened-up the screw. That took care of 75% of the gap. Also, on this particular unit, the front sight has had to be replaced with a lower one. With the rear sight adjusted fully up, it still shot low at 25 yards....at 75 or 100 it would not be on paper. Also, when they pressed the front sight in, they just positioned it flush with the right side of the ramp, but did not center it. That's just poor attention to detail. However, any factory rifle should be able to be brought to zero with the sights it came with. If I were not a very experienced shooter, I would have been frustrated that it could not be zeroed. The rifle functions well enough, but is not as smooth as my 1895. I am sure that with use, it will get better. I would rather Remington/Marlin put more effort in to fit and finish than have the stock checkering. The tri

Q: Would this be a good deer rifle for 100 yards
Author: Hubert Wesley W.
(6) ANSWERS
A: Absolutely Hubert. This will be an almost perfect combination of light recoil and deer killing power package. Definitely look into "Underwood Ammunition" for their 44 Mag loads.
Author: James G.
A: Hi Hubert, No it would be an Excellent firearm for that purpose! Use Underwood Ammunition
Author: Steve P.
A: Yes it will do a super job on whitetails at 100 yards Big Mule deer I would want a little more gun

A: Hubert, it's a great rifle for deer hunting, I would recommend using Buffalo Bore, Garrett Ammo, or Underwood ammo for shots over 50-60 yards. Bud's carries Buffalo Bore ammo in .44 Magnum at a good price. Just go for the heavy bullet weights, over 240 grains, for the longer range.

A: Yes, the 44 ,mag makes a good 100 yard deer gun. But works even better as a 50-75 yard tree stand gun. I have a Ruger M-77/44 bolt gun that has proven to be a solid, accurate, easy to carry package. A Leupold 1x4 power scope works great for the .44 mag.
