First off, Buds was...
First off, Buds was awesome from start to finish. Despite the pandemic the rifle, which had been on layaway, was shipped promptly after the last payment. Bravo Buds for terrific customer service during difficult times! \r The rifle is a ton of fun. Yes, these have gone way up in price. Yes, 2 grand is a lot to pay for an AK on steroids. Yes, the gun was filthy when I received it complete with some tiny metal shavings is the barrel (I assume from manufacturing process). Yes, the magazines are expensive and look like they came out of a high school shop class. Despite all of this, if you do your research before getting a rifle like this, none of these things should be unexpected. After a thorough cleaning I took it out to the range and dialed in the scope. I got great groups at 100 yards with absolutely no failures of any kind. Surprisingly, it was not severely over gassed. The scope is very very cool. Like the rifle, it's not state of the art, but it is solid and does exactly what it was designed to do. The fun factor and the cool factor simply cannot be ignored with this thing. Everything about this rifle is the antithesis of the AR-10/15 platform. It represents a completely different approach and mindset to rifle design. For me, that's part of the charm. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Everything works well and nothing replaces the peace of mind of knowing this platform is tough and reliable and will work every time you need it to. Also, with a trigger upgrade (FIME enhanced FCG) which I did, and an adjustable KNS piston, recoil and accuracy can be improved although neither are bad out of the box. Aftermarket Magazines can be found that are much cheaper. Too, a longer Dragunov style stock from Rhineland arms is nice if you want it but again, not absolutely necessary. All and all, a terrific rifle given you know what to expect going in. Even at this price, I am very glad I got it.
