Perfect size for...
Perfect size for everyday carry. Easy to conceal either in a shoulder holster or IWB. I use an owb holster with open end and when carried with a shirt outside the waistband, it completely disappears with virtually no printing. I would add that I am not skinny and I can carry all day in comfort. The action is tight with no barrel wobble. Two downsides which are easily correctable. The first is the sights. Very small and hard for some of us older generation to see. I corrected that by putting several coats of bright green nail polish on the front sight, followed up with two coats of clear lacquer polish. The second are the grips. Very plain and looked washed out. Cheesy comes to mind. However, a new set of highly polished wood grips makes the gun look completely new and upgraded. Thicker than the regular grips and will not irritate the skin if the gun is worn on the outside of the pants without a T shirt. It is a very good firearm at a very reasonable price.

Great looks, nice...
Great looks, nice finishing, but the taketown??? I sold this at a loss after the mickey mouse design of takedown. I am an old school 1911 guy and what they did to a classic with the funky paperclip BS is crimnal.

Bought this gun for my...
Bought this gun for my wife, I love 1911s. I'm not sure about the bushing style, through no fault of the gun itself having to have a paperclip on hand to clean it is kinda wack. I recommend a standard 5" bushing 1911 but this one is plenty fine barring that design choice.

Questions & Answers
Q: Is there a difference in the CA compliant model and the regular one?
Author: Trevor C.
(4) ANSWERS
A: In general, no differences on the pistols. The pistols that are currently on the Roster are grand fathered. It's the new requirements that makes getting nearly identical models added to the Roster (which is silly). There can be no change to the pistol not even color or it has to be re-certified. The cost to manufacturers and the hoops to jump through to get pistols on this CA Roster (which is exactly what CA wants) is causing this roster to shrink. Many manufacturers simply don't bother.

A: really no differences the CA DOJ list is a way for CA to restrict what their resident can own and force the manafactures to pay more to CA to be allowed to sell there (Politics and money)

A: HI Trevor, No differences I own the Ca model. It has everything that the other does. It's just California is gradually taking our rights to own firearms. We will never see any newer models either except in revolvers.

A: While the standard (government and commander) 1911 mags will fit and function they will extend below the bottom of the magazine well the CS uses officers size magazines these are the proper "Officers" size mags To make it ca compliant they pay CA a lot of money to certify it by the CA DOJ https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=1911+Officers+Magazine

A: CA requires the "Loaded Chamber Indicator" (LCI) to be compliant. This pistol does come with a 7rd magazine and not the 6rd listed by Buds. You can buy extra (1911 45ACP 7rd CS) magazines directly from Rock Island/Armscor here : http://armscor.com/parts-accessories/magazines/

A: You can use any 1911 magazine with this pistol including the 10 round mags. The only problem with the longer mags is that you can "over-insert" them which will tie the gun up if you forcefully seat them during a quick reload. Gently seat them and you'll be okay.

Q: Hi there I was wondering if Rock island 51416 gi p rated?
Author: Edgar R.
(3) ANSWERS
A: Yes sir, it is +P rated. Keep in ind one should never feed any pistol a steady diet of +P, all the time, simply because it does cause some extra wear and tear even though the gun is +P rated. .
Author: Rick C.
A: Edgar, yes these guns are safe for use with +P ammo. From the RIA/Armscor FAQ: "Yes all of our guns are +p ammo ready, but please use only when necessary." FAQ Link: https://armscor.com/support-center/faqs/#collapse11
Author: Trevor D.
A: Edgar, yes. This Rock Island Pistol is +P Rated. I own several and have been shooting Underwood, Buffalo Bore and Doubletap loads for years with no issues. A heavier recoil spring is a good idea if you plan to shoot lots of +P loads.

Q: What is the pound trigger pull on this gun ? Thanks.
Author: Jerre P.
(3) ANSWERS
A: Per Armscor/Rock Island's website: True to all Rock Island 1911s, this GI Standard comes with a crisp factory 4- to 6-pound trigger for a great experience right out of the box." Link to their full page on this item here: https://armscor.com/firearms/ria/gi-series/gi-standard-cs-45-acp1/

A: Jerre, this 1911 has a Crisp 4-6 lbs. single action trigger pull Sir. Cheers!
Author: James G.
A: According to research, there is a 4-6 pound trigger pull. Since this is California compliant, I have one, but I haven't tested the trigger pull with my trigger pull weight tool. I'm not home right now, otherwise I would test it and give you my findings. But it is a great trigger for what the firearm is worth. It was my pleasure to assist you. RIP Kobe Bryant.
