Buds gun shop never...
Buds gun shop never disappoints! I have purchased multiple firearms and never had a problem. This is an awsome revolver to have in my collection. Nice factory crisp trigger. Groups well with a little adjustment of rear sight. Very well built and I like this revolver as it is. The grip feels good in my hand. Recoil is very little.

Q: Hi; Do these two guns share the same frame size, i.e. medium frame? Or is the 627 larger? Hard to tell from pictures. Secondly, are the basically same gun with different size barrel? Thank you in advance!
Author: Ben H.
(1) ANSWER
A: Both the 617 and the 627 share the same Frame" size. Larger than a S&W® J frame, but smaller than a K frame. The only difference between the two is barrel length (2¼" vs 4" vs 6½") and their sights. The 66 & 627 TRACKER™ have adjustable sights, the 617 is fixed sights.

Q: Trying to figure out the 10oz weight difference between the 4" barrel models. Comparing the 6" models— only 2.7oz. and M66 overall is 1.5" longer (no overall length given for 4" Tracker) Just can't tell from pictures. Compact vs Medium? Structural or Semantics? But 10oz is a lot. Just wondering if anyone knows where it went. Want the porting but need durability. Any ideas? 617 vs 627 frame doesn't seem to account for 10oz. Esp using 6" models for comparisons.

A: the 627 is a compact frame the 7 shot cylinder is lighter than the 6 shot cylinder the grips are lighter ported . The 66 is a Medium frame heavier grips cylinder is heavier. It all adds up and I have found that the manufacturers weights are not the most accurate specs. For normal use I don't think you would ever wear either of the Taurus revolvers out

A: James M627 is a larger N-Frame Revolver while the M66 is a smaller K-Frame revolver. Porting, cylinder wall thickness (greater for less round holes) all play a factor. The 617 is a smaller K-Frame as well.
