Description
Hi-Point's 1095TSCA 10mm carbine has an all-weather, polymer skeletonized stock with an internal recoil buffer, Weaver-style rails, sling, swivels and scope base. It has a quick on/off thumb safety, grip-mounted clip release, last round lock open feature and fully adjustable sights (post front, peep rear). The 1095TSCA carbine has a 17.5" barrel with .57x28 muzzle threads. Hi-Point carbines are +P rated and accept all factory ammunition.This model has a black stock with raised, soft rubber cheekpiece, a flat black receiver shroud, and a black metal finish. It includes a 10-round magazine and California compliant paddle grip is installed. Comes with Trigger Lock. 100% American made.

So first off, I just...
So first off, I just want to say that Buds didn't do anything wrong with this order. That's why this review is a 2 instead of 1 star. If it was just about the product, it would be 1. Now, onto the issues with this gun. First off, the folks at HiPoint need to do themselves a huge favor and get out of the long gun game. This rifle had the under barrel rail warp after only 50 rounds, it had the front sight come loose and eventually fall off after only 27 rounds, so basically I fired by guess and by golly. The rear sights were horrible for adjusting and did not line up after trying 5 shot groups. Also, with how close you have to put yourself to the ejection port to get any kind of decent sight picture with the sights means you get blowback gases in your face. Not fun. Do not purchase this gun. There's a reason HiPoint is the butt of a lot of jokes in the gun world, and this 10mm carbine is one of those reasons. By the way, I was not shooting any hot loads, lest you think it was something I did.

(1) ANSWER
A: David, yes it is. The Hi Point Carbine has since been designated an assault weapon in the State of Connecticut with the April 4, 2013 signing of Public Act 13-3 [8] It has been similarly designated by the State of New York with the signing of the NY SAFE Act and as of mid-2013, purchase of any of the unaltered carbines has been restricted to law enforcement officers. However, in 2014 a company developed a shield that prevents the shooter from wrapping their hand around the pistol grip, which means that legally the pistol grip is not a pistol grip within the definition of such under the SAFE Act. With the shield fitted, Hi-Point carbines are again legal to own in New York state.[

A: Stephen - according to Hi Point web site, the 10mm carbines, the TS Edge models, have threaded barrels. I could not find a 9mm threaded barrel model. Q: Does the paddle on the pistol grip just screw off? This model is almost $50 cheaper than the others so if that comes off I can save a bunch.

A: Jason, unfortunately it's not removable. Appears to be made of rubber or polymer so could possibly cut it off. The pistol grips built into the firearm also so couldn't swap out the grip. Sorry but hope this helps some.
