The Ruger AR-556 MPR is built as a modern sporting rifle with a PROOF Research carbon fiber barrel for improved handling and consistency. Chambered in .223 Wylde, the hybrid chamber is designed to safely and reliably run both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition. A mid-length gas system and direct impingement operating system drive the semi-automatic action, while the Ruger Elite 452 two-stage trigger and Magpul PRS Lite stock enhance control and repeatable shot performance.

If you're not aware of...
If you're not aware of Proof Research their guns cost up to $9k for a reason and the main reason is their barrels. Today on the Proof Research website the barrel on this gun cost $150 less than this gun cost total and there is a 3-4 month waiting list for the barrel. Throw in the Ruger 452 match trigger on this gun and this is easily one of the best deals you will find anywhere, on any gun. Bud's, as always, was perfect. It's my go to gun store and should be yours too.

Just go ahead and make the purchase, you won't be disappointed! I have owned two AR-style firearms previously, which I always considered to be extremely accurate firearms (both had DPMS bull uppers). Boy I was wrong, or at least the Ruger AR-556 w/ Proof Research puts them to shame. Sub-MOA out of the box; trigger pull is just beautiful; extremely limited recoil... I was initially apprehensive because of the cost, but considering how many extras I had to add to my previous ARs to get similar performance, this was a win.
