There is not much difference in them other than the fit and finish. mossberg 500 have a better fit and finish and are available in camo as well. They are both built the same, same rail and slide system and same choke tubes as well. Like I said they are owned by the same company. All maverick is a cheaper model of a Mossberg 500. A: I have the Maverick in 12ga and as mentioned above they are about the same. The Maverick is a great value and uses the same barrels as the Mossberg. I have one with a Knoxx stock (recoil absorbing) and a 18" barrel and have shot a few hundred rounds through it with no problems. It's a good gun. If you want to save a little money do not hesistate.
