This is my preferred...
This is my preferred round(s) for my .38. I am fine with the +P, but the standard pressure is Great for me. I have tried other brands and have had no adverse performance issues, but (I) have had the best experience with Hornady "Critical Defense" 110gr. For me; best performance and control with more consistent (grouping) results, especially, with my .38 1.88" snubby. I also love the value. Great amount of rounds for the price and performance. Bud's Gun Shop is outstanding with their service and distribution. They (Bud's Gun Shop) ALWAYS have the rounds that I need, and have been nothing less than impressed with them. The pricing is fantastic! I would (and have) highly recommend(ed). Thank you!

Questions & Answers
Q: I heard the other day that with a new handgun a certain number of FMJ ammo should be put through before firing HPs. I had never heard this before. Is it true and if so why and how many rounds of FMJ? Does it apply to both semi-auto and revolvers? Thanks a lot.

A: Thomas, they're referring to the break in period. Hollow points have a tendency to catch up in areas that fmj rounds wouldn't Wich can cause malfunctions. Normally in semi automatics after 250+ rounds all the rough spots on the slide to frame get worn down so it can slide easier. So the roughness of a new pistol mixed with a hollow point Wich again are known for catching can cause a failure to feed until the pistol is broke in. Since these are flex tips you shouldn't have an issue. Just make sure you test your defense ammo for reliability before using it for defense. This only applies to semi automatics, you won't have any issues in a revolver. Hope this helps.

A: Thomas, most firearms produced today are proof-tested and/or fired for function before they are final inspected by experienced people and packaged for shipping. This virtually guarantees the gun will work as designed with quality ammunition right out of the box. Take the time to read the owner's manual. Then, fieldstrip it as indicated in the manual. Clean it, inspect it for obvious deficiencies, lubricate it as suggested and perform a function check before going to the range.

A: Thomas, this is not so for a revolver Sir. Semi-Auto Handguns should start with full power loads during the initial break in period with hollow points. This is to determine which loads are most reliable and accurate in your firearm. Then stock up on the ammunition that performs the best overall in your pistol. It is just a process of elimination to have the best possible load that is reliable in your handgun since your life may depend on it in the future. Most failures are with hollow point ammo and not full metal jacket and most folks don't depend on fmj for self defense. Cheers and stay safe!

A: Always read the owners manual before using any gun. If it says to break it in a certain way than do so. Otherwise I would not worry about it

A: This is total fudd Lore, there is no order you need to follow especially with a quality firearm, if buying Taurus, Canick or hi-points maybe but most reputable, reliable pistol manufacturers you'll be fine.
