This is good stuff - I...
This is good stuff - I also shoot Sig V-Crowns in 380acp as well as 9mm. Is my preferred PSD ammo for EDC. This round cycled very well through my Ruger 1911 Lt Weight Commander. With the lighter weight felt recoil is minimal. I'm now on my 3rd order.

Back in June I...
Back in June I purchased a 1911 Lt Weight Commander Model # 6711 from Ruger. It was never my intention to consider this as a carry self defensive piece as it's size and weight are a bit much for conceal carry - However after putting approx. 1,000 rounds through it I found myself searching for a nice self defense round of medium weight for recoil - I tried the Sig Sauer 185grn V-Crown as I also shoot Sig V-Crowns in 9mm and 380 . This 45acp 185 grn round works really well in my Ruger 1911 - really well - very accurate - can't attest to it's expansion as I have not been doing gel test and haven't been able to retain the bullets to measure - I can attest to it's cycling and performance. I just placed another order for 5 boxes. I think this is my 3rd order for these. Thanx Buds again for great comparative pricing. Thanx Buds, Mark C.

Questions & Answers
Q: I know it's a 45 but only 185gr. Is it good for self defense compared to 230gr?

A: Well, being lighter, they will have slightly less recoil. They will also be moving significantly faster than a full w30 grain projectile. It's a give and take situation. You're giving up weight for felicity and a hard impact versus a slower 230 grain projectile. Both serve their purposes. It was my pleasure to give you my opinion. RIP Kobe Bryant.

A: I never shot these honey, but a 45 ACP is a force to be reckoned with even at 185gr.

A: Shane, This is quality self defense ammunition. Don't let the grain weight of the projectile fool you. This will do as much damage and retain its weight well. If you want 230 grain defensive ammo there is plenty out there. Here's the same round in 200 and 230 grain bullets-------------https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/714012545/sig+sauer+ammo+45+acp+200gr+jhp+20%2f200 ----------https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/96693/sig+sauer+e45ap2-20+45+230+vcrown+20%2f10 All 3 rounds are great. Just pick what you like.

A: Shane, 185gr 45 ACP is designed for higher velocity and the lighter weight, heavier velocity usually gives less penetration. A 230 grain quality jacketed hollow point is a proven man stopper and Golddot's, HST's in 230 grain work fantastically. To date, I have not found many 185gr fmj target/practice ammunition which says a lot in and of itself. Smoke that over!
