Crooked Rear Sight! I...
Crooked Rear Sight! I have purchased 5 x Colt 1911 National Match pistols over the past 30 years - my absolute favorite out-of-the box ready competitive bullseye pistol. I LOVE THEM. I bought this 9mm - sadly crooked rear sight. Called Colt Customer Service and was given the choice of receiving the rear sight assembly as a part (no thank you) since there would be over 45 day turn around. Customer Service was fast, professional and courteous and agreed to provide an RMA for repair. Will update this review upon service, return, and examination. My disappointment is that Colt claims superior fitting, quality and control checks on all Colt Gold Cup National Match Pistols - not sure what happened here but I hope for the best given my past highly satisfied experience with this great company.

Questions & Answers
Q: will 9 mm HP bullets feed this gun with any issues?
Author: Dennis R.
(7) ANSWERS
A: Yes Dennis. The National Match Series have the feed ramp that is both polished and angled correctly to reliably feed even wide HP 9mm ammunition. The only issue with HP's would be with magazines that followers don't set the top round at a proper raised angle. Not many, but a few ones exist. (You will know these as the top round will sit almost flat which could be a bad follower or worn out mag springs.

A: It should but you can always get a gun that may not like hp bullets if you do either Colt or a good gunsmith will be able to fix the issues. They are mass produced guns and sometimes individual guns of all makes have issues in my 1911 9mm I have found the metalform mags to be the best at a reasonable price

A: Dennis, Most modern semi-auto pistols will handle HP ammo, some brands better than others. I do a lot of reloading and I have 9mm handguns in almost every major brand. I've found great success reloading with HP bullets from Nosler, Hornady XTP, Rock Mountain Reloading, Berry's Bullets. Speer and a couple other brands. I've also used factory loaded HPs from Remington, Hornady, Federal, Sig V-Crown and PPU without any hiccups. The key in my mind is where the tapering of the tip begins and how steep the tapering angle is. You can't do too much about you magazines or the gun itself other than polish the feed ramp to help the bullet slip into the chamber with a little less friction. Although I do not have a 1911-style pistol in 9mm, I do have one (Ruger SR1911 Commander) in 45ACP and I've used Hornady XTP HPs in 230 gr without any issues. Most 1911 style 9mm are generally scaled down 45ACP replica versions so I strongly suspect HPs will work with you pistol. I would suggest that you purchas

A: I tend to stick with XTP or Sig V Crown Hps in my 9mm 1911s, just aids in feeding vs. wide mouth HP rounds.

Q: Which series is this pistol?
Author: Tim H.
(2) ANSWERS
A: Hi Tim and welcome. This model has the Colt Series 70 firing system. The Series 70 lacks a firing pin safety, meaning the firing pin remains in the firing position until the trigger is pulled. Cheers and stay safe!
