Questions & Answers
Q: I have owned and carry an LCP. Is there really much of an advantage to upgrading to the LCP II. The guns looks nice but does it actually function any better.
Author: John D.
(1) ANSWER
A: The LCP II has an improved trigger that is much smoother than the first generation LCP and soime say a bit better than the LCP Pro, which isn't being made any loner. Also, the LCP II slide locks back after the last shot which is a feature many shooters requested from Ruger. The grips of the LCP II have been improved as well.

A: Ruger ships this firearm with a soft sided case, one magazine with the standard and extended floor plate, a locking device, manual, box, and a chamber flag. Ruger also ships them now with a Ruger brand pocket holster. These are great pocket pistols IMHO. I carry mine everywhere. The factor holster fits in most pockets very well. I did however put a bit of white paint on the front sight to make it stand out a bit more. Hope this helps.

A: Mine came with 1x6 round magazine. One pinky extender. One soft sleeve pocket holster. A cable lock. A Ruger sticker and instruction manual with coupons in a cardboard box. Its bare bones here.

Q: Is this model CA legal?
Author: Carlos C.
(2) ANSWERS
A: No, due to lack of manual safety it is not on California's state gun roster of approved hand guns. This LCP is not legal in California.

A: Carlos, sorry it's not

Q: Is this a gen 1 or a gen 2 LCP?
Author: Seth B.
(5) ANSWERS
A: Seth, it's the gen 1
Author: William L.
A: Seth, this is the Gen 1 Version - - Caliber: .380 ACP - Capacity: 6rds - Sights: Fixed - Barrel Length: 2.75" - Grip Frame: Black, High-Performance, Glass-Filled Nylon - Width: 0.82" - Weight: 9.6 oz. - Overall Length: 5.16" - Height: 3.60" - Grooves: 6 - Twist: 1:16" RH.

A: Ruger does not use the term gen 1 or 2 they have 2 different LCPs the LCP and the LCP II that being said this is the upgraded standard LCP (2nd generation) as the upgrades were done in 2013
Author: Randy I.
A: There is no Gen1 or Gen 2. Ruger largely copied the Keltec and made the original LCP. Two or so years ago they made the Custom model (with an improved red trigger). About a year ago they developed the LCP II (with a lighter trigger than the original LCP, larger sights, slide holds open on empty magazine, slightly wider frame and handle, and weights 1 oz. more). The one pictured appears to be the original LCP.
Author: Billy W.
A: There actually was changes made to the original LCP that didn't get a model number change but many referred to it as gen 2 because the trigger pull was significantly improved. Buds sells at huge volumes so there's no chance you'll get the older lcp. If you have an original lcp this one has a better trigger even though it's still DAO.

Q: Will this gun fire with the clip out?
Author: Steve H.
(3) ANSWERS
A: Hi Steve, Yes it will. If you don't feel safe carrying "one in the chamber", then the safest way to carry it is with a loaded magazine but with the chamber of the gun empty. So all you have to do is rack the slide and fire. Note - I do own a couple of other guns that I shoot at the range on a regular basis. Even then I sometimes forget to position the safety. JUST REMEMBER - The Ruger LCP .380 is very easy to shoot. ... If dropped on a hard surface with one chambered it could go off.

A: Steve H, I believe you are asking if it has a magazine safety. The trigger is the only safety I am aware of on this pistol.
Author: Lynn N B.
A: Yes, the LCP/LCP II will fire properly without a magazine installed.
