This is my second SAR pistol. The first was their CM9, which many folks haven't heard of, but it is a great gun. I'd had my eye on the SOCOM full sized for more than a year, but it was never in stock when I was ready to buy the thing. A year goes buy and finally I was ready again. That's when I logged in and saw they had released the compact version, which I promptly jumped on since this was going to get a lot of carry time. Not only am I happy with the purchase, but I couldn't be happier, to put it mildly. Let's start with the good, and there's a lot of it. The size is perfect in several ways. Yes, it is a compact, but you still have a full sized grip, although not quite as full as its bigger brother, but still big enough for me and my larger hands to get all of my fingers on the grip--I won't carry any gun I can't get a full grip on. I have larger hands but skinny fingers, so it fits perfectly. I'd compare the grip in size to either a Glock 19 or the CZ P-07. But here's what makes the grip even better--the magazine well. Because the grip is shorter, that mag well pushes against your pinky finger when you grip it, and even more so during recoil, making for a superb recoil dampening device. I love the sights as well. Blacked out rear and a front night sight that is perfect. Grip texture is good without being too rough which can cause irritation during long carry sessions. Another thing that these guys do well is magazines! They are cheap, although not as cheap as Glock, but they have the 21 rounders for the same low price, so I grabbed 8 of them--I always get 10 mags for my pistols. Reliability is flawless. SAR isn't as mainstream here in the states, but they have started to change that, and they make superb firearms, without question. On top of all that and its even got a threaded barrel and is optic ready. I love the green color too, very nice tough. Buy one of these and you'll be sorry you didn't do it sooner!
