I purchased my Springfield Prodigy with some trepidation, having read about the problems people had with earlier iterations. I wanted to try a double-stack 1911 style 9mm but was not prepared to pay what they're charging for a Staccato, so I took the plunge. So far, my 3.5 inch Prodigy Compact has performed without any malfunctions and has been pleasant to shoot. The rear sight did work loose at about 300 rounds, but blue Loctite and a tightened-down set screw seem to have taken care of that hiccup. The jury's still out, but on the whole I'm pleased with the gun. As always, the buying process with Bud's a piece of cake.

Questions & Answers
Q: What is the best IWB holster for this handgun / what is the best Red Dot
Author: Joseph R.
(3) ANSWERS
A: Both are subject to personal opinion. Best for me might not be best for you.

A: Questions like this are so subjective. I mean, I use holsters others hate but they work for ME. Same with optics. You can go high end but it really depends on your wallet and intended usage.

Q: Does this gun needs a brake in period? If it does, how many rounds needs to be fired?
Author: Benito P.
(2) ANSWERS
A: Good to shoot a couple hundred rounds through any new gun, but Springfield doesn't specifically state a break in period for their guns.
Author: Christopher N.
A: Hi Benito and welcome. The Prodigy is normally good out of the box. The only thing needed is a hundred rounds or so, take-down and clean and lube. This is essentially just to remove any metal particles from any new firearm as parts settle into each other. Cheers and stay safe!
