I bought this to...
I bought this to replace my Vaquero I had to part with several years ago. Very well made, fairly accurate, and loads of fun to shoot. And the fit and finish is awesome.

A wonderful Revolver!...
A wonderful Revolver! I am a big Fan of all things Cowboy, and this is My 3rd Cimarron Product. I have the "Plinkerton", an 1873 Deluxe Short Rifle, and T=this revolver. The rifle, also in 44-40 is the perfect companion to the SAA. Fit & Finish is remarkable. Now that they come with the retractable firing pin, and I can load six, it's even more fun! This is also a work of art. Points easily, and the "Cowboy Comp" (also known as the "Johnny Ringo" spring kit is just splendid. I am thinking of ordering a matching revolver..and I had a custom John Wayne Rig made for Her. Buy this revolver; worth every penny.

Fit and finish is...
Fit and finish is outstanding, with an action as smooth as butter. This Cimarron/Uberti is a work of art. Could skip the grip medallions however. A fantastic value at 1/3 the cost of a Colt!

Questions & Answers
Q: Does this model have the traditional Colt lockwork and not the transfer bar /
Author: Norman B.
(2) ANSWERS
A: I think it has the "floating firing pin " however cimarron is not real good at including this information in there specs so I suggest that you call them and get a accurate answer from cimarron contact them at 1-877-SIXGUN1.

A: Norman, this is a newer replica with the Transfer Bar Safety Sir. The new Model P with Cimarron's Cowboy action eliminates weaknesses associated with the 19th century design of the 1873 Colt single action.

Q: So I'm looking at the numbers, the 44-40. I'm guessing that this gun fires .44 mag AND .44 specials too, correct? What is the meaning of the 40?
Author: Nathan B.
(4) ANSWERS
A: 44-40 is a cartridge all its own. Does not shoot 44mag or special.
Author: Tom H.
A: Nathan, this gun shoots .44-40 Winchester ammo only, which is different from 44 mag & 44 special.
Author: Ed C.
A: Nathan, no, you cannot fire 44Mag/Special in a 44-40 because the difference is pressure. The 44 Magnum is loaded to a much higher pressure. The 44-40 is an older low pressure round the handgun will not withstand the higher pressures of the 44 mag safely. Cheers and stay safe!
Author: James G.
A: As others have said no not interchangable. As to the second part of your question the "40" in 44-40 refers to the original manufacture of this cartridge in the early 1900s the .44–40 was a ..44 caliber round sitting on 40 grains of black powder manufactured by winchester.
