Q: Is this revolver safe with 6 rounds in the cylinder (like a Ruger and others), or must the hammer rest on an empty chamber, as the Colt's old model "P"?
Author: Ranald C.
(2) ANSWERS
A: Hi Ranald and welcome. This model has a Floating Firing Pin and is safe for 6rd carry. Cheers and stay safe!
Author: James G.
A: Hi Ranald, the hammer should rest on an empty chamber. In keeping with the classic design of the Single Action Army, Cimarron preserved the fixed firing pin on its Model P, which means that loading and shooting this reproduction is done the same way as the originals. Load five rounds and rest the hammer on an empty chamber. Cocking the hammer provides that audible signature of a proper Colt reproduction. Four clicks, spelling out C-O-L-T. There are four possible positions for the hammer of this single action revolver: 1. Fully forward (at rest); 2. Quarter c0ck (safe); 3. Half c0ck (loading), and; 4. Full c0ck (fire) Stay safe & have a great day!
