Built like a tank!!!!!! Solid construction and well balanced in the hands. Absolutely no issues with it and I've fired standard 38's, 38+p, and all the way up to 158gr 357 magnum loads. It eats everything. Buds service is smooth and quick as always.

Q: Just put this one on layaway and was wondering if the front sight is spring pinned or cross pinned, So that i can order a fiber optic front sight
Author: Brian S.
(1) ANSWER
A: There is a spring loaded pin in the front of the barrel just above the bore that you push in with a punch then slide the sight out the sight vertically.

Q: I absolutely want the GP100! So, I was ready to buy the 4.2" barrel 357 6rd one, then I see a 7rd GP100, the sights and grip I like and all for almost the same price...why? is 7rds weaker? any ammo problems? I read those comments but seemed to be one or two utterances by some rabid guys. Should I go classic and stay at six?
Author: Antonio S.
(1) ANSWER
A: mine is the 6 shot 4 inch barrel (old ) It is slightly stronger (more steel in the cylinder) than the 7 round one I also like the 6 round gun as speed loaders are easier to find. that being said they are both great guns and Ruger will stand behind their products

Q: I'm ready to purchase the GP 100, 4 inch barrel. I read all the reviews, and most were very positive. However, a few noted minor defects whic caused them to return the revolver for another one. I'm relatively inexperienced, and need to know what to look for before I accept the firearm at the FFL.

(1) ANSWER
A: Hi Roger and welcome. You should check the timing (by checking that there are no hangs or difficulty in cylinder rotation in both double action and single action mode)(should be smooth through out the motion). Also check that the front sight is straight and not canted. Cheers and stay safe!

Q: I'm considering the purchase of a Ruger GP 100 chambered in .357 magnum. Is there a laser device that is compatible with that revolver and that can be attached very simply (such as how easily the LaserMax for the Ruger LCR can be fitted onto that firearm)?
