Great carry gun for...
Great carry gun for someone looking for something light but powerful. very easy to conceal in a coat pocket with a pocket holster for a quick run out to the store. also a nice backup gun to carry in an ankle holster. it is unbelievable how light this gun is (11.8oz) which is nice for carrying but you pay a price when you shoot 357 out of it. The recoil is stout but manageable for experienced shooters. If you can handle the recoil and price tag it is a great gun for concealed carry

This is my new carry...
This is my new carry revolver. Shoots 38 Special easy and 357 mag can be a bit painful. Just takes some practice to get used to it. Extremely light weight. I have had no issues with this revolver after shooting 100+ rounds through it. A little pricey, but it is worth it.

A: The internal lock comes with the revolver though not specifically in the description. The lock prevents the trigger from being pull, the internal hammer does not mean it does not have the lock. S&W specifically makes a model that does not have the internal lock, noted below as model # 103061.

Q: Can you use the same trigger pull reduction spring kit for the 642?
Author: Richard D.
(2) ANSWERS
A: yes it will fit they both take the J frame trigger kits
Author: Randy I.
A: Richard, Apex Tactical makes a duty/carry spring kit, for J-frames, that they say is 100% reliable. (https://www.apextactical.com/j-frame-duty-carry-spring-kit). Polishing parts equals a smoother pull... Lighter springs equal a lighter pull. The two together give me the best results. Lots of trigger time (live or dry) will do some polishing of the contact points and develop your trigger muscles making it feel lighter, even with factory springs. If you lighten the hammer spring make sure it is still strong enough to fire the primers in your carry load.

A: yes it will fire 38special ammo with no problems you will have to clean the chamber after shooting a lot of 38 special tom remove the carbon ring that builds up at the front of the shorter 38 special this carbon build up can cause it to be hard to chamber the longer 357 ammo
Author: Randy I.
A: Christopher, yes Sir. Any .357 Magnum chambered firearm will fire the shorter less powerful.38 Special ammunition including +P no issue. Cheers and stay safe!

A: It sure can. You can safely fire 38 special on days you don't want alot of recoil. Hope this helps.
Author: Josh T.
A: Yes. Many people fire .38 Special for practice (cheaper & less recoil). However, you should fire couple cylinders of .357 Magnum when finishing practice to clean out extra fouling buildup.
