A sweet little rifle...
A sweet little rifle that has enough heft to hang well, it is accurate and very enjoyable to shoot. It is also a pleasure to just hold and admire the beauty of the 1873 design. Fit and finish is very good. The trigger is a bit heavy at 7.5lb for my liking but very crisp and the action is smooth and clean. I got the CA213 short rifle in 357 Magnum. I understand some 357 lever guns can be finicky with 38 loads but mine runs 38s with no problem what so ever. I'm sure the other calibers look and function as well as mine does. This gun is built by Uberti and they are notorious for having tight screw, so if you don't have, be sure to get a good quality set of screw drivers with all the flat head sizes before trying to remove the side plates or any of the screws.

I have had this 1873...
I have had this 1873 Winchester for several months now and have shoot it some. When I first got it I was impressed by the fit and finish, it is a work of art. When I took it out to shoot it the first time it was very accurate, however the trigger pull was somewhere around 10 pounds. I called Cimarron to see if the trigger pull was within specs and they were shocked to find that a rifle had got thru quality control with that heavy trigger. Cimarron made it right sending me a ups shipping tag to their authorized gun smith to fix the problem. I sent the rifle off and when it arrived at the gun smith I called about a week later to see what his turn around time would be. He asked what poundage of trigger I wanted etc, long story short he fixed the problem sent the rifle back. I love the way the rifle shoots it is very accurate, I can see how the cowboys of the old West won the Indian wars if those rifles shoot like this one does. I am extremely happy with this purchase.

After 45 years of...
After 45 years of watching old Western movies it's no surprise that I eventually decided I needed a lever gun. Not that I have any practical use for one, but hey -- in the movies need them to drive off bad guys wearing black hats and tribes of wild Indians. That's reason enough, right?\r \r I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. That beautiful dark reddish wood and case hardening and old timey look kind reminds me of some of the old guns my grandpa owned when I was a kid. It seems to be a pretty true representation of the old '73s. \r \r I had done a lot of research on brands and models before picking this one. The 1873 in 357 seemed to be my best bet as I can share ammo with my Ruger six shooter. I'm glad I went that direction. Besides looking nice it shoots pretty good also. The trigger could use a little bit of work. It is not great but ok. Even so the gun is fun to shoot and whether I'm using 357 or 38 specials, the recoil isn't a big deal
