Beautiful rifle, shoots well and looks great. This gun is very heavy so my next one will be 18 or 20 inch in a 45LC.

This is a beautiful,...
This is a beautiful, well made, and very accurate rifle. The action is butter smooth, the rifle points naturally, and 38spc cycles perfectly. My only complaint is that it's easy to accidentally load an extra round which jams up the action, but this is likely an issue with the 1873 design itself, or an issue with the mag spring being brand new.

The pros: -Fairly...
The pros: -Fairly smooth action (a quick action job makes it great.) -It's pretty accurate. -Nice to look at. The cons: -HORRIBLY soft screws. Be prepared to shell out $70 for a good set of replacement screws. -The machine work is mediocre at best. Plenty of material to practice your finishing/polishing. -The assemblers just don't care. Both of my side plates were fit into place with a hammer and screws were felt like they had thread locker on them. Paired with the soft steel, half of the screws stripped out on the first disassembly, even with proper gunsmithing screwdrivers. I would've given this rifle 4 stars, if not for the price. I would have expected much better quality for $1,300.

A: You will have no issues with any SAAMI Standard 357 Magnum or 38 Special +P or otherwise. This rifle is a basic very well built firearm and should give you years of trouble free service.

A: Mr. Thomas, I don't own one but with a design nearly 150 years old and at twice the price of a "standard" 357/38 lever gun, they better have all the kinks worked out!
