The CORE15 CORE 15 TAC ULTRALIGHT AR-15 rifle is built around a direct gas impingement system with a Mil-Spec forged 7075-T6 lower and a forged M4 upper. It features a 16 inch chrome-lined M4 profile barrel, an A-2 flash hider, a Type III Class II hard-coat anodized finish, and a flat-top 1913 Picatinny rail for mounting optics. Iron sight support is provided with a Magpul MBUS rear sight, backed by a drop-in quad rail for accessory mounting.

I went to inspect the...
I went to inspect the rifle at the local dealer today. I had read a review stating that their rifle came with a barrel with a 1:9 rate of twist. The item description at Bud's did not specify what rate of twist the barrel had, so I looked it up in the CORE catalogue and it stated that the TAC UL 77020 came with a 1:7 rate of twist. I decided to go a step further and call CORE in Ocala to ensure that the 77020 came with a 1:7 barrel and they assured me that it does. Unfortunately, this one has a 1:9 barrel. I am very disappointed, but can only blame myself for not just taking a couple of hours to drive down to Ocala and purchase one directly from CORE like my cousin did. I accepted the delivery because I feel as though Bud's is not at fault because they never stated that the barrel was a 1:7 or tried to deceive me in any way. I guess I'll have to pony up some more money and drive to Ocala to purchase the proper barrel. If you care about the rate of twist beware, but other than that it is a beautiful, well built rifle that will be with me until the good Lord calls me home. I can't wait to bring in home in a few days...silly Florida law prevents picking it up the same day.

Rifle functions fine....
Rifle functions fine. I've put nearly 900 rounds through her, only malfunction was one FTE with steel case. Other than that, no real hiccups even with minimal cleaning. One thing that kind of disappointed me was the buffer tube is Commercial diameter. That, combined with the rifle shipping with 1/9 twist, makes me wonder about Core's "Mil-Spec is just a starting point" line. I would buy Core again though, and have already purchased from Bud's again.
