I previously purchased a Crickett Pistol and liked it well enough that I decided it might be fun to have one of the rifles. I liked the tan color and the fact that the current model has a raised comb but doubted that I would really shoot it well since it is so small. I had expected it to be a shoot from the hip kind of gun but was more than pleasantly surprised. The sights appear to be pretty crude with a large aperture in the rear and a triangular shaped post in front but found that I could not only shoot it from the shoulder but hit a 22 caliber shell box at 30+ yards consistently. Its quality is great for such an inexpensive item and I have no doubt it would do quite well for a short to medium range squirrel and rabbit gun. I just plan to use it for plinking and anticipate many hours of fun for a very limited investment for both the gun and ammunition.

A: Yes, you can shoot a .22 short in rifles that accept the .22 LR.

A: Yes, If it's a bolt action or a single shot,,, There is no problem with safety. It's possible they wouldn't be as accurate as a with a long rifle cartridge,,, The rifling twist is probably optimized for the longer bullet. Rifles made for .22 Short only had a different twist rate,,, I can't remember if it's less or more twist.
