Great price and fast...
Great price and fast shipping from Buds. It ran fine with factory FMJ and HP handloads. The factory mag ran Great but bought a 20 round red ball mag that I had to open up the feed tabs a bit and then it ran fine. The factory sights are OK but we're way off out of the box and they were dumb to adjust at the range. Overall a great purchase.

I have only one...
I have only one session with the rifle, but I am impressed. Please be aware that durability of this rifle is to be observed. Given the price of this rifle, I was expecting trouble. However, on my first trip to the range with this gun, it functioned flawlessly with both factory gallery ball 45 ACP and my reloads using Hodgdon CFE Pistol loading data. This flawless performance continued when I attached an E&L rigid brass catcher. I was using a 4x short rifle scope which after sighting in provided 2" groups at 25 yards, and with some care, 6" groups at 50 yards all indoors. This required great care since the trigger has a very heavy pull that is much like a double action revolver. It should be remembered that these accuracy results depend upon the capability of the rifle, the capability of the operator (me) and the consistency of the ammunition, so your results will vary. However these groups were half the size of a competitive 45ACP rifle I once had that cost twice as much to purchase! Field stripping for cleaning and lubrication appears to be complicated, but it is actually quite easy. The first time I field stripped it following directions in the excellent included manual was a little under 15 minutes. The parts you get after disassembly are very easy to clean, lubricate and reassemble. The recoil spring is rather strong so some arm strength is required, but no more than that required to operate the bolt during normal use. Recoil is minimal given the weight of the rifle as well as its design. In conclusion, this rifle appears to be a real value and very dependable.

A: Unfortunately the pistol grip makes it illegal in the state of California. If you could find a model with a fin over the pistol grip, then it might be legal assuming it has no other offending features.
Author: Greg B.
A: Michael, no, it is not. The CA compliant version would look like this in lieu of the non compliant pistol grip : https://www.guns.com/news/2018/07/26/hi-point-carbines-now-with-california-compliant-paddle-photos
Author: James G.
A: The removable magazine coupled with the pistol grip make it non-CA compliant.
