For $600 I can't...
For $600 I can't recommend this rifle to anybody. The "free float" was crooked and one side was touching the barrel(I've seen a ton like that not just this one). The mag is super finicky going in and out and with a loaded mag it doesn't want to seat with the bolt closed. The stock is probably the cheapest feeling quality of any rifle I've ever held. Trigger is eh. And the bolt lock up was god awful. And on top of all that out of the box it was shooting 6" groups with 8 different brands and weights of ammo. So it got sent back to Ruger. Customer support was fine to deal with and the spiral fluted barrel looks good(only reason for 2 stars). Overall I wouldn't recommend this rifle. For a few more bucks you can get a cva cascade which puts the Ruger American to shame.

The rifle performed...
The rifle performed admirably on its first trip to my shooting range. Got my optic sighted in at 50 yards and it held about 3moa at 200 yards using the PMC .308 ammo. I've got other loads that I'll need to run to find out what the rifle likes. Initially the bolt is quite stiff but that should hopefully break in over time. Buds shipped the rifle quick and it arrived in mint condition.
