On the plus side:...
On the plus side: Savage did a good job on the stock. it's very comfortable to shoot and the camo finish is good. The bolt has some improvements - easier lift, better firing pin springs and MUCH better ejection than the Axis II. Cerakote finish looks good. Barrel interioir looks real good. No tooling marks, smooth shiny and cleans easily. Negatives: The rail is too long in front and can interfere with the scope objective, and it was loose out of the box. Minor issue, but doesn't Savage own a torque wrench? Stock forend is still a little flexy. Non issue for a hunter, but many don't like that. Accuracy: Just getting started, but a load of 4064 under a 168 Hornady BTHP was .7 MOA. Should be able to tune that up for .5 MOA or better. Loads with the Nosler 125, HDY 150g SST and Sierra 165 GK are also looking good, all under 1 MOA. The only factory load tested was Winchester 180 power point, and it hates those (3 MOA), but that's been my experience with factory Win ammo in most rifles lately. Us leftys don't have a ton of options out there and I'm glad Savage keeps us in mind. It's a good rifle for a fair price.
