Lets see.... I own...
Lets see.... I own several savage rifles. My very first hunting rifle was a Savage 270 and is still a solid rifle but this 22 in my opinion is Not the best. The safety broke after two times at the range. You have to push up on the magazine to get rounds to cycle properly and the sights were mounted very crooked. I have the safety stuck on fire now so at least it can function, I have done my best to adjust the rear sight so that it is close but not as accurate as it could be. Over all I am very disappointed with this .22. My son is left handed and finding left handed rifles is always a challenge. Fortunately he doesn't complain or realize how jacked up this rifle is.

I bought this left-...
I bought this left-handed bolt-action rifle for my son who is just learning the basics of shooting. I ordered it and it was at my FFL within 3 days. When I arrived to pick it up however, the stock was split right near the breech. It looked like something had struck it during shipping because the box was damaged in the same spot. I refused delivery and emailed Bud's later that night. The next morning I got an email at 7:30 a.m. (CST) apologizing for the issues and indicating that a replacement gun was shipping. Bud's must have found another one of the guns within a few hundred miles of my FFL because a new one was delivered THE NEXT DAY. Bud's customer service is absolutely exceptional and I am a loyal customer after having similar experiences with every order here. But about the gun: It's a simple, affordable bolt action .22. No frills, but I don't need them for a kid who just needs to learn safety and basic marksmanship. I took it to the range to sight it and put about 50 rounds through it (it's a Christmas present; I can't wear the thing out before I give it to him!). Sights were dead-on right out of the box. The only issue I had was that it doesn't care much for bulk Armscor hollow points; they have trouble feeding probably because of the blunt nose. Winchester black copper M-22s do fine; I had no issue with those.

Buds was Great, Savage...
Buds was Great, Savage Lousy. 18 months after buying, I'm calmed down enough to write this. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. Very Disappointed with quality and service from Savage. I purchased this to make Christmas special for my son. Buds was great as always, got it shipped in time, his eyes popped out of his head on Christmas morning. We live in Wisconsin, so had to wait for a warm February day to shoot it. I'm no sniper, but I'm not new to rifles, I shoot better than most people. Using a solid bench at 50 yds this gun grouped poorly, and yes, I put 100 rounds through it from 3 brands. It was even so far off that the sights were out of adjustment range ( 3" h & 2.5" right of center). I contacted Savage and they had me return it for service. No big deal. Except that I had no idea how long that takes, and that they avoid calls, and lie to you about what's going on and when it will be done. They finally sent it back after 2 months, saying it had been test fired and that all was well. Again, a flat out lie, I should have asked to see th target. It was as bad as when I sent it, I don't think they looked at it at all. After many calls, they agreed to take it back, saying they did have problems with the Canadian barrels. Again, long delays and false promises, ending finally with them sending a entierly new rifle after seriosu threats. It shoots fair at best, after reaplcing the factory sights, not that I was expecting cloveleaf accuracy from a $200 rifle, but this is poor. Long story short, I still own other Savages, from an ancient 99 to a newer bolt action centerfire, they shoot great. This one was a dud, made worse by really lousy customer service. It really ruined the Christmas gift idea when you don't get to shoot it for 5 months. Love Buds, do buy from them. As for Savage, I would avoid them, quality was poor, service worse, I should use expeletives now, but they would delete the post. Oh, and they never once apologized to my son.
