The layaway plan...
The layaway plan worked perfectly for me, paid off in less than 30 days, sale price was fantastic. Shipping was prompt to dealer on payoff! I've wanted an M1A for...
I've wanted an M1A for years, and finally splurged on one. I've never been a fan of AR's. I love walnut stocks but the fiberglass was a lot cheaper and half a pound lighter. It does seem to have a bit of flex in the fore-end, though. Other than that the fit to the barrel and receiver is good and I appreciate the reduced weight. The rifle handles very well-it's easy to shoot kneeling or offhand. The gas piston action and muzzle brake make the recoil very manageable for a .308. I'm still trying to decide what I want for an optic. I considered a Burris Fastfire III on a stripper guide mount, but I may go with the more traditional Scout scope on the mounting rail so I can have some magnification. But until I decide, the built-in sights are easy to zero and quick to align on target. It seems quite accurate, though I haven't shot it from a bench or prone yet so I can't say exactly how accurate. I have had several failures to chamber-the cartridge gets stuck halfway into the chamber at an angle and the bolt can't close fully. Each time I removed the offending cartdrige, put it back in the magazine, and it chambered fine the second time. I'm hoping it's a break-in issue; if not I'll be contacting Springfield. Overall I love this rifle!
