Well I got to tell...
Well I got to tell you, I wanted a Maverick 88 cruiser 20 gauge and they were hard to find or to expensive. So I ordered this Mossberg 54132 and swapped barrels with my 20 gauge Maverick 88 20 gauge. I also put a Hogue pistol grip on the Maverick to make it like I want it. So now I got a Mossberg Maverick 88 pistol grip with a 22 inch Mossberg barrel that I can change chokes or barrels if I want to. The Mossberg came with two extra chokes.

Q: I noticed this model comes with the smooth bore bird barrel. Does it also come with the rifle barrel or chokes for slugs? Looking for this to be a home defense gun for a woman. Thank you!

A: This does not include a rifled barrel but does take Accu-Set choke tubes and should come with a full, modified, and improved cylinder which would work with slugs. Personally, I use/prefer 00 buckshot in my defensive shotgun - just me.

A: Julie, You can shoot slugs accurately out of this shotgun as is out of the box. No need for a rifled barrel for self defense. Would look at buckshot instead of slugs for residential self defense. As effective and safer for the neighbors.

Q: Buds says 4 + 1 Mossberg says 5 + 1. Can one interchange Mossberg 5 + 1 barrels with this shotgun?

A: Patrick, Buds is in error. This is a 5 + 1 shotgun. 6 Rounds (5, 2-3/4" shells in the magazine tube with 1 in the chamber). Cheers and stay safe!

Q: I have a Maverick 88 20 gauge with a 26" barrel. I want to put the 22" barrel from the Bantam and my maverick and the 26" on the Bantam. Are the barrels interchangeable? Plus the accuchoke set that I get with the Bantam should be able to use in either barrels? Please be specific so I will understand completely for what information I am asking. Thanks P

A: Patrick, this will work. Maverick 88 pump-action models are fully-interchangeable with Mossberg 500 barrels (within gauge and capacity). This includes the Maverick and 500 Bantam models.The Accu-Choke is no issue as they are both AccuChoke Threaded Choke Systems. Should be a direct swap on your part.
