I wasn't quite sure...
I wasn't quite sure what to expect with this revolver, but thought I'd take a chance on it since it was now offered in .32 H&R which is a caliber I like. The good: it shot S&W longs about point of aim at 15 yards, and about the same with Remington HTP's, both grouped about 3 inches, about 1 inch right. Finish on the gun is good for what it is, looks decent. The trigger is not bad. The not so good: The grip for me is not as nice as the Ruger Wrangler, its more squared off on the top surface and feels more blockly in the hand, its ok but not great. It has the extra safety which I can live with but don't love. The one real disappoint is the cylinder function. It is sloppy compared to any of my Rugers and is definitely no Smith and Wesson. Beyond the feel and impression of it I fired some, heavy for .32, Double Tap 120 grain ammo and the cylinder jammed back on frame and would not function on the second shot. The DT's are heavy for .32 but are not plus P. Hertitage does say in the manual NOT to use plus P. So these should have been ok, but where pushing the limits of the gun. The cylinder could be removed with some effort and after checking the gun all seemed normal. So I did fire again with some light loads, all seems fine. I suspect the cylinder is just to misaligned with the barrel for those heavy square shoulder bullets to line up smoothly enough with the forcing cone, its just not the tool for anything but light round nose bullets or so it seems. Overall for me this gun will just be a fun gun for some light plinking. I will just shoot round nose .32 longs in it, as I don't think it will hold up well to even normal.32 H&R loads. Limit your expectations with this revolver, its 25% the cost of a nice Ruger or Smith, and there is truth that you get what you pay for. That said I will enjoy it within its limits.
