Savage TRAILBLAZER...

Savage TRAILBLAZER 5.56 20 4RD I don't typically write reviews but this gun warranted a review. Now, the good about the gun. After cleaning, oiling, putting on an old scope and bore-sighting I took it to the range. The first three shots at fifty yards gave a ½ inch group. After scope adjustments that same ½ inch group was in the 10 ring. Moved out to 100 yards and the group deteriorated slightly to just less than ¾ inch (or maybe it was just my 75 year old eyes.) 100 rounds proved the accuracy of this gun. The trigger on this gun is superb! So, accuracy and trigger are outstanding. Not so good is the feed ramp. Cartridges frequently do not chamber well. Whether this is a magazine issue or a feed ramp issue I have yet to determine. As for the bolt, it looks great but is the hardest bolt to turn I have ever had. I suspect that will improve after a couple hundred more rounds. So now for the less than outstanding. I bought this gun after reading about it and watching an NRA video about this model. I really liked the idea of the adjustable LOP and Comb height. After watching the Savage Video about stock adjustments I tried to adjust the comb height with no success. A call to Savage and sending the gun in yielded nothing but being told this model did not have adjustable comb. Only LOP was adjustable. Maybe I ordered wrong but after looking at my browser history of the videos I had watched, one was no longer present and one still had the incorrect information. Make sure you know what you are ordering! So in the end, fortunately the comb height is not perfect but very good. The LOP worked well but is not real attractive and I don't know how long the mechanism will work. The accuracy and trigger are beyond reproach. The last Savage I bought was back in the 1960's when a model first came out and it had a design flaw which Savage changed in later models. But I still have that gun. Will I keep this gun? If someone at the range shoots it and likes it I would certainly sell it.
