Great shooting pistol!...
Great shooting pistol! Always wanted one in .38 Super and with this one being on sale, it was an easy decision. Build quality is great, fit and finish are also great for the price point. Very accurate and fun to shoot. Only issue I have had is with the magazine that comes with this pistol…it will not allow the pistol to cycle properly all the time. Found after market mags at my local gun shop and problem solved! Since changing magazines, I have not had any issues with it cycling. I highly recommend this pistol.

Wow! Just got done...
Wow! Just got done putting my first 50 rounds through this sweetheart and I'm loving it! Never owned a .38 Super before but I decided to give it a try. all 50 rounds went through without even a hiccup. The only problem I bumped into was the ammo I brought ran out too soon. Solid shooter, very accurate. Feels great in the hand. I own several RIA .45's and now this .38 and they all run like a dream. I like them every bit as well as my Tisas and my Kimber. Get you one. Or more.

Author: Chris P.

A: to further clarify " In 1974 the industry added the +P headstamp to the .38 Super to further distinguish it from the lower-pressure .38 ACP. Most current ammunition manufacturers label ammunition for the Super as .38 Super +P." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.38_Super

Q: Will a Wilson Combat Ramped Match Grade 38 super barrel function in the RIA 38 super gov. 1911?
Author: Toary H.
(6) ANSWERS
A: Yes Toary it would work. Hope that helps!
Author: Wade W.
A: It should be just a "Drop In" proposition Toary. As always, due to possible variations in pistol specs, it may require some minor fitting.
Author: James G.
A: Hi Toary, Yes it will fit. This is a Drop in Barrel
Author: Steve P.
A: it will fit but be aware there are really no "drop in" 1911 parts. the "minor" fitting is critical on 1911s
Author: Randy I.
A: I believe the older RIA 38 super used a non-ramped barrel and the new ones use a Clark/Para cut ramped barrel. The Wilson/Nowlin cut is different and will not fit. Get the pistol before you order a barrel to see which it is.

Q: will this handle jhp ammo? Thanks, Mike
Author: Mike E.

A: Yes it will Mike, I have the standard model (Non CA Compliant) and so far no issues with any Hollow point ammunition.

Q: Would a 9mm slide work on this,
Author: Juan N.
(2) ANSWERS
A: Sort've, but the extractor will be slightly different and definitely the magazines, on top of a barrel swap. So if your willing to do all that, then yea it will work
Author: Milton V.
A: your problems with caliber swaps in 1911s are that most 1911s use a throated barrel not a ramped barrel. the feed ramp is part of the frame and they are cut differently for each caliber also the ejector would have to be replace with the proper ejector (ejector is pinned in place) extractor would not be a issue as the extractor is part of the 1911 slide assembly and the 38 super magazines will work just fine for 9mm I use my 38 super magazines in my 9mms all the time. It can be done but it would be better to get a dedicated 9mm and be happy
