After weeks of...
After weeks of comparing models of reproduction colt revolvers I settled on the pietta 1873, as the consensus on CAS forums was it's the most faithful reproduction of a gen 2 Colt SAA, it's even compatible with modern and period Colt parts. As far as I understand Cimmaron imports the parts and finishes assembly. This Cimarron frontier is the same as the steel framed Pietta 1873 GW2. It's my first Single action revolver and it was love at first sight it shoots exactly to POA at 10 yds, makes magnum .357 feel like 9mm. Intially I dissasembled completely to remove packing grease, lightly deburred all the sharp corners on the frame with 600 grit, polished the cylinder base pin/bushing, hammer notches and trigger sear, greased everything and it's one unbelievably slick revolver now. None of that was essential, but every part of this thing is either steel or wood and very easy to work on, in my mind that's part of the appeal to these. Make sure you have gunsmith screwdrivers so you don't mess up the screws after multiple assembly/dissasembly (I ordered a grace 3 piece screwdriver set for SAA's for like $20). Cimarron's website has the best price for replacment parts, and you get a real American on the first ring when you call them, just in case you mess up something, or want some backup trigger hand springs... This was my first order from Bud's. They had the best price of anyplace I would trust to order from, after scouring the internet for weeks. They already had every FFL in my small town on file already and it arrived in 2 days flat, so I would recomend them to anyone.

Such a cool gun! My first SA, so I don't have much to compare it too, but I definitely don't have any complaints. Buds shipped it quick and it arrived on time. 4 clicks, looks great, and shoots awesome! Put 200 rounds through it in the first week. No problems at all, but do check the screws occasionally...some had backed out a little bit while shooting.

Questions & Answers
Q: Is this the old model 4 click frame?

Q: Can this take the pressure of Buffalo Bore .357 ammo?
Author: Mike H.
(2) ANSWERS
A: Mike, this case hardened revolver can use BB Heavy 357 Magnum but I would not feed it a steady diet of the same to curtail any premature wear and tear. Cheers and stay safe!
Author: James G.
A: YES, it will handle Buffalo Bore .357 ammo fine. However, heavy usage of Buffalo Bore can really increase wear on your gun. I hope this helps

Q: Does this fine firearm have a transfer bar safety?
Author: Michael S.
(2) ANSWERS
A: From what I'm reading no this doesn't have a transfer bar safety. But I'd double check with cimarron at (1877-749-4861) or by email at orders@cimarron-firearms.com. hope this helps.

A: Michael, the reviews here and at other vendors suggests that it has the original Golt 4 - Clicks meaning no transfer bar or Floating Firing Pin. Cheers and stay safe!

Q: I know the gun says it rated for 357. However ,I was wondering with it being based of an older design. Can it handle extended use with standard loads of 357?
Author: Zac C.
(2) ANSWERS
A: YES, this can handle modern 357 perfectly fine...the metallurgy is very modern. As matter of fact, it will handle Buffalo Bore .357 ammo. However, heavy usage of Buffalo Bore can really increase wear on your gun. I hope this helps
Author: Trin K.
A: This will be fine shooting standard pressure loads. Youd probably even be fine using +p ammunition although I wouldnt recommend it in large quantities.
