I've been a big Ruger...
I've been a big Ruger revolver fan for 45 years, and not one has ever failed me at the range or in the field. It may not be as "pretty" as a Smith or Colt, but it'll outlast either one every time. The balance on this 3" GP 100 is fantastic, the weight keeps the recoil in check, and gets smoother and better with every round it eats. The Hogue rubber grip was just too large for my hand, so I bought a Hogue wood grip, and modified it to suit me. I much prefer the GP100 over my 686 Smith, and it's the one that comes with me every day. It became my favorite almost instantly.

This is a really nice revolver, I've run about 200 38 rounds through it and no issues at all. Buy it from Buds, once again the entire purchase process was a breeze.

Q: Does it show anywhere that it will handle +P rounds ?
Author: Jeffrey S.
(6) ANSWERS
A: Hi Jeffrey, this is a "357 Magnum" Pistol that will fire to lower power 38Special and 38Special Plus P rounds with no issues.
Author: James G.
A: Hi Jeffrey, Yes this will fire +P No Problem.

A: Yes it will handle + p with no issues The Ruger GP 100 is one of the strongest .357 mag revolvers ever built a "weak" .38 +p load will not hurt it at all
Author: Randy I.
A: Jeff … +P means that it's a high pressure .38 Special load. The .357 Magnum is a longer, much higher pressure derivative of the .38 Special made by making the cases longer and adding more powder. Both the .38 and .357 can be loaded with the same "bullets". Any guns labeled .357 Magnum can safely fire any .38 Special load from standard target loads to +P or even +P+ law enforcement loads. But you cannot fire .357 Magnums in guns intended and labeled .38 Special … the case length would be too long.

Q: I'm debating between the 3inch model or the 4 inch model, do you really lose a great amount of velocity from the 3inch compared the 4inch?
Author: Andre B.
(1) ANSWER
A: Hi Andre and welcome. Depends on what your shooting needs are. 1 inch of barrel length in .357 equals on average 50 fps to 80 fps depending on the load. Not a terribly lot in a magnum revolver but the extra ft-lbs of energy may make the difference. Cheers and stay safe!
