Purchased this gun a...
Purchased this gun a while back - first, the problem. Initial problem was a tight-fitting hammer - twice, I cocked the hammer back, pulled the trigger, and the hammer just stayed back, which is pretty disconcerting when your hammer is floating above a loaded chamber. Also, I'd get light strikes and failure to fire. I suspect it was the too-tight hammer fit into the frame described by another well-known SAA expert. Anyway, I ended up contacting SM customer service - Not a fan of their customer service because they only communicate through email, you cannot call them ever. I had to send the revolver back to SM at my own expense (and that's EXPENSIVE), although they shipped the revolver back to me on their dime. To SM's credit, they did fix the revolver and it works perfectly now. Now, the good news: fit and finish is superb, case color is dreamy, the traditional blued parts are really nice and have an old-school vibe, and the one-piece walnut grips are pretty sharp. Trigger gets a B+ (it's a good trigger, but not great) - smoothness of action? I cannot judge, not enough experience with single-actions, but I like it. Packaging is above average, which I actually appreciate. Now the best part - I use 250gr reloads, RNFP lead from Missouri Bullet Company, using Ramshot True Blue.... accuracy is excellent and actually exceeded my expectations, and to my surprise, sight regulation (at least for my eyes) is spot-on, if the sights were adjustable I'm not sure I'd even change the setting. Also, expended cartridges usually just fall out (don't need the ejector rod), so cylinders I presume have a high degree of polish. So despite an early hiccup, SM did fix my problem and since then it's been an excellent revolver and is really fun to shoot. If they'd chamber their revolvers in 44 Special or virtually any of the WCF cartridges, I would definitely buy another one! Five stars for the product, but probably 3.5 stars for SM customer service.

I purchased this SAA...
I purchased this SAA revolver due to its reputation for stellar quality. When it arrived at the FFl, the hammer would not fall from the full cock when you pressed the trigger. Thinking it was just a bit tight and needed some work, I took delivery. I took a reasonable examination of the pistol and took it home. Only to find out it was badly rusted at the tip of the ejector rod. This would be a challenge to notice at the FFL. I knew that I had already taken delivery, so I called Standard Manufacturing about the issue.
