Overall, I like the...
Overall, I like the FPC. It is a very good shooting PCC. However, my experience wasn't the best with S&W. I had to send mine back immediately because the charging handle was not working, and I could not get a trigger pull. I was in a rush the weeknight I picked it up from my FFL, and didn't take time to test it (my fault). That being said, customer service left much to be desired, and I had to wait their "standard" six weeks for them to fix it. For what it is, and at this price point, I find it to be a good entry point into PCCs. If I purchase another, it will be of a higher quality.

Overall a great 9mm...
Overall a great 9mm carbine for the price. Field strip for cleaning is very easy and because it folds in half it is extremely easy to clean the barrel. With the long rail on top I was able to install a reflex red dot sight and flip-up front and rear sights. Only complaint is that the magazine release button is a bit of stretch to push with your trigger hand vs other semi-auto firearms that I own.

Questions & Answers
Q: Is there any components on this that would make it illegal in NJ?
Author: Michael A.
(2) ANSWERS
A: Michael, much to the dismay of Dictator Murphy, this gun is legal in The People's Republik of New Jersey. It has a non-threaded barrel and fixed stock. This is not a folding stock, the gun itself folds in half. Stay safe & have a great day!

A: Hi Michael and welcome to the forum. No Sir. It is currently good to go in the State of NJ. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!

A: Bertram, Prohibited - A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine or that may be readily modified to accept a detachable magazine, if the firearm has one or more of the following: i. a pistol grip or thumbhole stock; ii. any feature capable of functioning as a protruding grip that can be held by the non-trigger hand; iii. a folding, telescoping, thumbhole, or detachable stock, or a stock that is otherwise foldable or adjustable in a manner that operates to reduce the length, size, or any other dimension, or otherwise enhances the concealability of, the weapon; iv. a flash suppressor; v. a grenede launcher; vi. a shroud attached to the barrel or that partially or completely encircles the barrel, allowing the bearer to hold the firearm with the non-trigger hand without being burned, but excluding a slide that encloses the barrel . Sorry, but the pistol grip is the disqualifying factor.

Q: What is compliant mean?
Author: Ken O.
(2) ANSWERS
A: Hi Ken, there are states that infringe upon the rights of it's citizens and ban certain features, like collapsible stocks, flash hiders, threaded barrels, and magazines over 10 rounds. Compliant means this gun lacks some features which allows it to be sold in some, but not all, restricted states. In this case, the gun has a non-threaded barrel and is sold with (3) 10rd magazines, instead of the usual 30rd. (it will accept higher capacity mags) Stay safe & have a great day!
Author: Ed C.
A: Hi Ken and welcome. Compliant refers to some States that put restrictions on certain firearm configurations like, magazine capacity, threaded barrels, pistol grips, muzzle brakes or flash hiders etc. The standard model comes with (3) 23rd magazines and threaded barrel whereas this compliant version comes with (3) 10rd magazines and a non-threaded barrel. It will also accept the 23rd magazines but no option to add a muzzle brake of suppressor since the barrel is not threaded. Cheers and stay safe!

Q: Is this M & P FPC legal in New York State? I saw one at a gun show for sale recently and it had 10 round mags and non-threaded barrel.
Author: Douglas H.
(3) ANSWERS
A: Hi Douglas and welcome. I would check with a local FFL Dealer for the latest legality news for the Smith & Wesson M&P FPC Carbine. Cheers and stay safe!
Author: James G.
A: Fellow NY'r here, Ed C. Is correct. This has a detachable magazine & Pistol grip so for the Empire state, it's a huge no.
Author: Jason L.
A: Douglas, there is no NY complaint model. A semi-automatic rifle that can accept a detachable magazine can not have a pistol grip. Perhaps you saw that before the law changed. budsgunshop.com/feeds/state_reg/new_york_restrictions.pdfc , Stay safe & have a great day!
