The Standard Manufacturing SML 1911 HPX is a tactical-based 1911-pattern pistol built on a durable 4140 carbon steel frame and slide. It features a 5-inch stainless match-grade barrel with match bushing and a satin non-gloss black finish across the major components for low glare and everyday longevity. The slide is CNC machined from forgings and includes tactical handling improvements like deep cut front and rear serrations and a lowered and flared ejection port. Novak-style low-mount 3-dot sights with a white dot front help support quick target acquisition.

For the price I paid I...
For the price I paid I am happy with the purchase. There are no mim parts in this 1911 which is a bonus. If you don't have experience with 1911 tuning you might be turned off. The slide to frame fit extremely tight and needs a break in. The extractor needed a lot of work, no tension and not shaped on the claw. I also tuned the grip safety and the trigger to my liking and even replaced the trigger due to lot of vertical slop. Some rust in trigger shoe area of frame that cleaned up. The gun was extremely dry like no oil was applied. The finish is usable but may not wear to well, time will tell. Overall good for the price but seems like good quality machined parts thrown together.

I received my HPX...
I received my HPX within a couple of days after ordering and it was in perfect condition. The fitment is tight, but smooth. I disassembled, cleaned and lubed before firing. The slide stop was stiff, but removal and lube made disassembly easier the next time. The safety was stiff and I worked it a few times that also made it easier to manipulate. My first run of 5 loaded magazines was great with only one failure to feed with one round needing a slight bump on the slide using mixed reloads of RNL and LSWC. I liked the front strap checkering and my grip felt great and solid using standard loads, no +P. I compared this gun with others in a similar MSRP range and decided on this one because of the features, reputation and the fabulous discount Bud's offered. My other 1911's are a bit miffed with this new one getting all the attention. I highly recommend this gun if you want a shooter.
